That's the problem. And it's what your support builds.
A pregnant woman in crisis has to make some of the most consequential decisions of her life — while unsafe, pressured, and without a stable place to think.
When she doesn't have support, the cost is carried by two people: the mother, and the child who may never get the chance to be born into safety.
Right now, there is no place specifically designed to hold her through that. AMAI is that place.
So that more mothers find their footing, and more babies are born enthusiastically, safely, and into a stable future.
The pilot is live. The need is immediate.
AMAI is not a concept. The sanctuary is open. Women are being referred. The work is happening.
What we need is the funding to sustain and grow it through the pilot year — so we can serve more women, deepen our partner network, and build the evidence base for a model that can scale.
A mother who is overwhelmed, pressured, and alone — making permanent decisions under temporary conditions without a safe place to think.
A child who deserves to be born into something better — into stability, safety, and a mother who had a real choice.
You can be what fills that gap.
AMAI's pilot raise of $75,000–$125,000 is organized into three areas. Every dollar serves a single purpose.
Preparing and maintaining the sanctuary itself: the physical space, safety infrastructure, furnishings, meals, and ongoing operating costs. This is what makes it a real refuge rather than a resource list.
The staff and support that make AMAI work: intake coordination, resident support during stays, safety planning, and follow-up after women leave. This is the core of what AMAI does.
Building and maintaining the partner network: housing transition agreements, legal and health referral infrastructure, and program documentation. This is what ensures women leave with somewhere real to go.
Every dollar serves a single purpose: getting a mother from crisis to a stable, clear next step — so her child can be born into something better.
AMAI is not a long-term housing program. It's not a shelter managing hundreds of beds. It's not a passive referral service.
It is a high-touch, structured bridge — designed to move women through, not hold them indefinitely. That means your funding goes directly to impact, not overhead built for a different model.
We will report these to our donors. Transparency is not optional here.
Early donors aren't writing a check into an established institution. They're deciding whether this becomes one.
In Texas, we believe in life. We believe that means creating the conditions for life to be chosen freely, carried safely, and welcomed into the world. AMAI is that work — on the ground, one woman and one child at a time.
If the pilot succeeds, AMAI becomes a replicable model for maternal crisis response in Texas and beyond. The evidence we build now is what makes that possible.
